UK-based Sole Heaven have been commissioning sick graffiti and urban art custom trainers for a while so we’ll be featuring a few from the site to show you! Here is an awesome stop motion video of a pair painted by SHODDY.
What’s the name of the project?
I like to call the style ‘patternpaint’, because I paint a similar pattern on other items. The individual pairs of sneakers doesn’t necessarily have a name except for these are ‘the Gravis for Dale’. But each pair of sneakers I work on usually forms part of a larger ongoing project or series. I have recently finished a series of items, including a pair of adidas sneakers, a vinyl toy and a skateboard. Another series, again has sneakers, but is accompanied by some mini canvasses.
How many hours did the painting take?
A pair of sneakers should take almost as long in preparation as it does in painting. A patterned pair like these could conservatively take 16 hours to complete. I made a time-lapse video of me painting this pair so you can see in detail the process involved in painting the pattern.

Sole Heaven also get commissions done by in-demand artist HUSH…
Straight from Sole Heaven’s mouth… ‘Hush’s work has been described as a sensory assault of shape, color, and character. Inspired by the portrayal of the female form in art, he builds up and tears down layers of paint and images as he works. You can definitely see that style in these boombastic customs.’
Check out more of HUSH’s art here, it’s really great.
Nothing makes World Graffiti happier than a great pair of custom kicks, we’ll feature more from Sole Heaven’s catalogue soon. You can get your own customs made too, give them a shout. They’ve got a top selection of trainers too, definitely worth a butchers.
