From Sunday, November 8th to January 17, 2010, the Laguna Art Museum (nr. Los Angeles, USA) will feature a new installation by Jeremy Fish entitled, Weathering the Storm.
Jeremy Fish began his career as the art director for Think Skateboards. Over the years, he’s contributed graphics for Upper Playground’s apparel line and has released three popular art books. Fish’s book credits include I’m With Stupid, featuring some wicked selections from the Big Stupid series that ran in SLAP magazine.
He also collaborated with Aesop Rock on The Next Best Thing, which featured a storybook accompanied by a 7” picture disk. Jeremy has also developed his own line, superFishal. He has also done work with a number of corporations including Nike, Microsoft, and Adidas.
This will be the first museum exhibition for Jeremy Fish. He has taken over Laguna Art Museum’s upstairs galleries to create an installation with symbols and characters that he has been developing over the last ten years.
Fish’s iconography generally consists of a fairy tale world inhabited by beavers, skulls, and birds which he has developed in part as a response to the influence that popular culture, cartooning, and literature like the Brothers Grimm, has had on him. Anything with beavers gets World Graffiti approval.
Additionally, Fish created a limited edition print, Stormy Weather, for the Museum. Upper Playground will be releasing an exclusive tshirt featuring the Stormy Weather artwork shortly.
We’ll let you know when it’s available! Go check out the show if you’re in the area, so much wild art…
