Banksy’s film debut will appear in the “Spotlight Surprise” slot Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at the Library Center in Park City, Utah.
It’s apparently a story of an eccentric French shop keeper who becomes a documentary maker attempts to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on him. It’s narrated by Welsh actor Rhys Ifans, of Twin Town and Notting Hill fame and has music by Mr. Scruff.
People started to suspect something was going on (despite the film not being listed on the schedules for the festival) after 4 stencils popped up around Park City, where the festival is being held.
Here is one of the new Park City stencils…
Banksy said of the filmĀ ”It’s the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed”.
The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy and loads of other well-known graffiti artists at work (including Sweet Toof, AWESOME!), which is pretty exciting. It’ll be interesting to see who gets in there…
It opens in UK cinemas on the 5th of March 2010, could be interesting or it could be self-serving shite. Is it even real? We’ll see.
