Train Graffiti North West London – Euston to Watford, Richmond to Victoria – MOREEEE
Not in the country at the moment so posts may be a little patchy this week… We’ll be back next week with some great stuff though, including an exclusive INKIE interview, nice.
But – Here are some shots from the camera phone on the train, a bunch of random bombs.

North London Graffiti and Urban Art – Old Street
North London Graffiti and Urban Art – Old Street
I put a lot of graffiti and urban art from around Old Street and Shoreditch, London, but that’s because there is always loads of new stuff going up. Go have a look around if you’re in the city… There are some Sweet Toof photos here, and a few good looking INVADER too.
Also check out the suit of armour! Awesome.

Another great piece from Sweet Toof and the Burning Candy crew, looks sick! Been up for a while but I’ve not had a chance to go see it till now…
You can watch an interview here with Sweet Toof talking us through the piece.

Wildstyle Graffiti In London, Near Old Street
Wildstyle Graffiti In London, Near Old Street
I saw this wildstyle in London, on Great Eastern Street (near Old Street), seems to be on the side of a building for a printer cartridge company Sustain.com. There are 5 pieces around the building, they’ve got the same taste in colours as us…

Some New Urban Art In Cargo Club, London
Some New Urban Art In Cargo Club, London
Ok so some of it’s not new but I’ve not been there for a while. There is a C215 piece and one that look very much like Blu but can’t be totally sure. There is also the big OBEY wall, looks great.
Cargo Club is near Old Street, well worth a look in.

More From the World Graffiti Phones – London 100%
I didn’t get the chance to leave the country for a while but I’ve been running around London loads so here is what been seen on my travels. It’s another World Graffiti phone clear out.
Loads of these are taken from moving trains (one of the few places that bombing is still going strong is on the side of railway tracks here in the UK). It makes the boring journey great, here are some from 2010.

Jodie H Shows World Graffiti Art, UK, New York, France
Jodie H Shows World Graffiti Art, UK, New York, France
Jodie has been busting around the world for what seems like forever, and she’s taken some great photos of graffiti and street art along the way. She said we could post some of them for the rest of you to see, which is nice of her.
We’re especially feeling the paste ups from New York, great stuff, and there are some shots from Birmingham (UK), and Paris too.
Static Interview – Stencil, Print, Graffiti and Sticker Art
Interview with Tom & Craig aka Static – Stencil, Print, Graffiti and Sticker Art
World Graffiti got the chance to speak to the Static lads at the recent Art Republic street art competition, so I asked them a few questions…
Street and Urban Art at Art Republic Gallery, London
Street and Urban Art at Art Republic Gallery, London
Art Republic had an event to announce the winner of their latest competition (interview with the winner to come soon!), I took a look into the gallery before going to the event. Here are some of their current pieces for sale, it’s a cool place to look around…

Grant DeJonge Wins the 2010 Art Republic StreetSmart Street Art Competition
Grant DeJonge Wins the 2010 Art Republic StreetSmart Street Art Competition
The Art Republic announced the winner of their 2010 street art competition at an event in London in January, and World Graffiti was there to see Brighton based artist Grant DeJonge take the crown with his piece ‘Lost’.
He gets to have a limited edition print sold by Art Republic, with a proportion from each sale going to homeless charities like StreetSmart.
Preparations have begun to transform a 2 storey-wall into an original work of art. The wall kindly donated by myhotels has been prepped, and the winning image will serve as a reminder of the UK homeless situation when it is unveiled on Brighton’s Jubilee Street on Friday 5th February.
The next location is in Covent Garden, London where the image will be painstakingly reproduced onto a 4-storey building.
Check out the winning image…

Looks great, they have a pretty unique style I reckon. Check out this previous interview World Graffiti did with them, and this other large London stencil piece from the Isle of Man artists.
Exclusive Banksy Exhibition, UK – Original Stencil Art Sold- Sneak Look October 2009…
Exclusive Banksy Exhibition, UK – Original Stencil Art Sold- Sneak Look October 2009…
I was a lucky lad on Monday (big shout to James W for sorting it!) and got the chance to go to a private Banksy exhibition and sale in London at a members-only club deeeeeeeep in the ground.
We weren’t allowed to take photos so apologies for the poor quality of the pics, but it ain’t easy to be subtle with a bloody huge camera phone so I did my best to shoot what I could!
It was great to see the art in the flesh instead of just prints, and there were a couple there I’ve never seen pics of before so that was pretty cool. I’d say it was about as far away from the ethos of graffiti art as it could possibly be, big money and plush surroundings…
As an added bonus there was art from Nick Walker, a friend of Banksy’s I believe. He is known for the men in suits and bowler hats, here is a Nick Walker ‘Vandal’ piece from New York. I actually prefer him to Banksy, bit more colour and less in your face political commenting.
But anyway, here are the pics, I took a note of some of the prices of the originals too in case you’ve ever wondered how much an original Banksy can cost….

Banksy Grim Reaper Original Print - Stencil Art - This was one of the few prints at the exhibition £11,000 ($17,000)

Original Banksy Stencil Art - Rat and Saw (2002) - Paint, on board - £150,000 ($225,000). Yup, that's a lot...
So there you go. Got a few other posts on Banksy, and here is a collection of my Top 50 graffiti and urban art photos from 2009…

Urban Art By ID-IOM (SHOLTO & HUGO) – London & Isle of Man, UK Urban Art
Urban Art By ID-IOM (SHOLTO & HUGO) – London & Isle of Man, UK Stencil Art And Paste-Ups
I first came across ID-IOM when they were selling their art, they’ve got some pretty sick stencils and graffiti-inspired pieces for sale on there (UK & Worldwide), I wanted to know more so here’s a bit of an interview with them!
WG – Where do you come from and where do/did you write?
ID-IOM – We are brothers (SHOLTO & HUGO) originally from the Isle of Man but now living in South London, UK. We use mainly stencils, paste-ups and artwork drops in our street work which we’ll put up pretty much wherever we like. It’s usually best to find somewhere so the piece has some kind of context or, failing that, somewhere high traffic or even perhaps somewhere you can take your time. It’s particularly fun if you are on your travels. Most of our work is up and around London but when we have the chance to leave we always take a few spraycans and paste ups with us.
Tel Aviv, Israel
Check out these awesome Nonoloa graffiti and urban art tshirts…
WG – So what first got you into graffiti?
ID-IOM – We originally started doing t-shirts for nights out when we were students, then moved on to canvas and eventually out on to the street. I think we used to look around at some of the low grade graf and think either ‘that’s crap’ or ‘i could do better’. Whether or not ours is any better is, of course, open to debate but we generally try and put at least a little thought into what we are doing.
WG – What names do you use when you write?
ID-IOM – ID-IOM or perhaps JIM. It depends on how naughty we are being!!
WG – What graff artists out there do you admire or take influence from?
ID-IOM – There are plenty of people doing solid work. I’m interested in all forms of street art whether it be sculpture, graf, stencils, wheatpaste, etc. Graffiti Research Labs do some interesting work and Conor Harrington is very talented too.
Amy Winehouse favourite quote
WG – How long have you been doing your stencil art?
ID-IOM – As i said before we started doing t-shirt designs about 5 years ago and have just progressed from there. It’s taken a bit of time but neither of us are trained in any form of art.
WG – What influences your artwork?
ID-IOM – Music, pop culture, things you hear on the bus, books. We get our influences from pretty much anywhere and everywhere, it just depends if we can think of something to do with what we’ve come across.
WG – From looking at your website, you’re both pretty ambitious – what’s the ultimate goal?
ID-IOM – It would be nice to take over the world, or die trying.
WG – What do you think of the urban art scene at the moment?
ID-IOM – I think its lost some of it’s sparkle but there is still a lot of good stuff out there, you just have to look a little harder to find the real gems. I’m definitely down with the more experimental stuff, the mixing of mediums and the like but if it’s a good idea it doesn’t matter how its produced I suppose.
WG – What are your favourite type of trainers?
SHOLTO – I’ve got a bad-ass pair of customised black Nike Air Force One’s that are pretty sweet.
HUGO - I really like just plain white trainers, my favourite at the minute are a pair of Puma El Ray.
Cheers very much to the guys for taking the time to chat, you can see ID-IOM’s work for sale on Ebay, or check out their website, got some goodness on there. They also have a Flickr which is packed to the nuts with their paste-ups, stencil art and studio work too…

Scratchadelia – Hip Hop Inspired Urban Art from Marseille/Paris/London
Scratchadelia – Hip Hop Inspired Urban Art
Got an bit of an interview with Scratchadelia today! Their urban art has a wicked hip hop flavour and a pretty unique look, with lighting being an integral part of the art.
They’re a confident pair too, good on ‘em.
Scratchadelia have got a solo show on at THE DALSTON SUPERSTORE until August 2nd 2009, get down there while you can!
Let’s get to it then…
WG – How many of you are there, just you or are you a group? Where are you based?
Scratchadelia – We ain’t a crew or collective. We are 2, my brother Kass (Paris) and me (London) – originally from Marseille, but soon it’s gonna be a movement like graffiti…
WG – Have you been doing this style of art for long?
Scratchadelia – Since mid-90’s on Buses, Trains, Streets and 2003 on the wallpaper.
WG – How did you start getting into this style of art?
Scratchadelia – At school, on the wood desk.
Actually maybe earlier, u know when u are a kid u scratch everything u can and I remember that when I was about 3/5 years old, I scratched my gran mother’s table with the fork… She was so p*ssed off !!! She never gave me back a fork and/or a knife, only spoon. True story
WG – Are there any artists out there at the moment that inspire you or that you enjoy?
Scratchadelia – The inspiration for the WE SCRATCH THE DALSTON SUPERSTORE SHOW
Jasper Goodall (Tigress, Bad Bambi), @tmccool ( unknown artist from Twitter) for the Money Lisa.
But right now, not really… it’s quite boring, everybody do the same stuff…
Everybody wants to be an artist nowdays…
Check out these awesome Nonoloa graffiti and urban art tshirts…
WG – What are your main influences when choosing subjects to do pieces on?
Scratchadelia – We don’t really have a main influence, everything is inspiration for us.
For an exhibition: the venue, the people, we try to create an energy there.
For us: our thoughts, fantasies, what we want to touch, we play with the repetition of common/daily pictures/photos you see in magazines/advertisement/TV/movies/Life
WG – What music you into at the moment?
Scratchadelia – Hip Hop 4 ever
WG – How long does it take to do a piece usually?
Scratchadelia – Depends what we scratch (letters/word, portrait, scene,…) and how big it is.
WG – What sort of materials/equipment do you use?
Scratchadelia – JOKER (WG – Not giving anything away then!)
Short and sweet. They’re all over the place online, you can join their Facebook group and see their latest art (more to come soon) – SCRATCHADELIA Fan page.
Find them on MySpace (Sick Deltron tune on there too…) or on Twitter – @scratchadelia.
Cheers to Scratchadelia for taking the time out to talk!

Six Australian (all from Sydney) graffiti artists were found guilty of painting Brit trains and have been jailed in London.

The gang of six known as the AMF Crew painted internationally before being caught in London and found guilty of conspiracy to commit criminal damage. Other work by AMF has since been spotted in Japan and Australia.
The men were sentenced to between eight and 16 months’ jail. They are also wanted in five other jurisdictions for the same crime.
The court heard that each of the men has an interest in graphic art.
The graffiti artists were caught in Ilford, East London, by police officers who heard their cans and smelt paint.
